Compras y diversión con historia: El Mercado de Motores
The Mercado de Motores market is back again this year in the Railway Museum in Madrid. It is a unique occasion to enjoy some special shopping in a setting filled with history, the history of Spanish transport and communication.
With just a few years of experience behind it, this market that is once again taking place in the Spanish capital’s Railway Museum, has managed to consolidate itself as a great alternative (or the best alternative), for hipsters and lovers of everything vintage and bohemian. All of them will feel right at home here with the different stores and items on sale.
There are many novelties that jump on this “train” every year, such as stores of decoration, vintage fashion from Northern Europe, exquisite gourmet products or special signature photos.
As well as having the chance to do some unique and special shopping, those who visit the Mercado de Motores will be able to see what trains used to be like in the 19th century when they visit the interior of the museum. If they prefer, they can also go for something to eat at the museum’s terrace, which includes live music and a mini-train for children.
If you like discovering second-hand gems at bargain prices, then you really need to go to the “mercado de particulares”, a market space inside the Mercado de Motores that is intended for individuals that wish to sell and buy their own treasures.
In July 2014, the market exceeded 20,700 visitors, a number that they hope to increase in the 2015 edition on the 9th and 10th of May. Do not miss out on it if you are in Madrid and remember its opening times from 11.00am until 10.00pm. If you want to find bargains, though, you will have to get there early.
You can easily get to the market from Hotel Liabeny. We are four stops away on the Metro (Line 3) from Delicias. Book your accommodation in Madrid with our exclusive offers and benefit from the best price guaranteed on our website.
