Los mejores souvenirs de Madrid

If you come to Madrid, you will surely leave with a whole host of happy memories… but you will also want to take some souvenirs home with you for your nearest and dearest. Any shopping list of Madrid souvenirs is likely to be lengthy, but luckily, the Puerta del Sol and Gran Vía area, where our hotel is located, is full of gift shops where you will find everything you could possibly want, as well as original Madrid souvenirs you can surprise your family and friends with.

Gourmet gifts

The tortilla (potato omelette) is one of the most popular dishes in Spain and Madrid, and if you have come from abroad, you’ll want to take a tin of tortilla home with you to remember the taste of Spain. If you are looking for something more specific to Madrid, it has to be madroño liqueur, made from the strawberry tree which appears on the Madrid coat of arms and which produces a delicious nectar. Lastly, violet sweets are a classic form of confectionery, prepared with essences from the violet flower and available from the vintage shop in Plaza de Canalejas.

Lifelong keepsakes

Flat caps, fans, magnets, commemorative plates, calendars, postcard sets… Many souvenirs can be found in the shops in the centre of Madrid to help you remember your time in the capital of Spain. If you want something bigger, you can take home an original painting of Madrid to decorate the walls of your house. Landscapes of the skyline, images of the most outstanding buildings or places and copies of works that you can find in the Museo del Prado, you’ll be spoilt for choice.

For footballers

Madrid is one of the world capitals of football, the only city that has hosted World Cup, UEFA European Championship, Champions League and Copa Libertadores finals. It’s very easy to find shirts or scarfs for Real Madrid, Atlético or the Spanish national team, as well as hats, badges, posters, mugs and any other products you can imagine. If you’re more of a Barça fan, you can just as easily find souvenirs for the ‘Blues and Clarets’.
