Madrid International Pastry

There are few things more typical of Madrid than churros, and Madrid’s churros are slowly making a place for themselves in the world of haute cuisine. In fact, Madrid is becoming an increasingly important city in terms of patisserie on an international level – and not just because of the delicious churros and chocolate. Next 25 and 26 November, all eyes of the worldwide confectionery sector will be on the Spanish capital, which will be hosting Madrid International Pastry.

What is Madrid International Pastry

It will be the first edition of a two-day event which will see confectioners, bakers, chefs and nutritionists showcasing the value of sweet gastronomy and patisserie. It will be a great opportunity to discover new approaches for preparing dishes for people with intolerances or dietary requirements, such as coeliac disease, which requires desserts to be free from gluten. Andalusia is the guest region of this inaugural edition and Andalusian pastry producers, confectioners and restaurants will take a lead role in the programme.

The programme is divided into three sections. The first part is informative and master classes with leading confectioners will be on offer. There will also be an exhibition area, where as many as 27 professionals from the patisserie sector will present their latest creations. Finally, there will be different talks, round tables, presentations and live demonstrations which will help us to better understand this delicious world.

The congress is being held at MEEU (Madrid Exhibitions and Urban Events), in the Chamartín district, and entrance is free. This is a unique opportunity to discover new brands and to sample their products at food trucks located outside the venue. At the same time as the exhibition, there will also be charity galas and social actions related to healthy diets, sport and accessible gastronomy, in order to further improve the social and professional integration of people with disabilities.
