Veranos de la Villa 2019

If you’re planning on visiting Madrid this summer, don’t miss out on the Veranos de la Villa activities. This year’s festival will take place during the months of July and August and will boast an extensive programme of 41 artistic events, taking place in 35 different cultural spaces around the capital.

There will be music, theatre, circus, dance, zarzuela, cabaret, cinema, astronomy, fashion and urban sports and the majority of events are free. It is also worth noting that activities for people with disabilities will also be doubled over the course of these two months.

This summer festival hosted by the city council brings culture to every corner of Madrid. Public spaces are filled with life and residents and tourists alike are invited to take part in this programme of cultural events.

An entire summer that encourages you to live life to the fullest alongside a selection of artists, thinkers and national and international collectives from Cuba, the United States, France, Italy, Nigeria, Portugal, South Africa and many other countries.

Featured artists include Joan as Police Woman, Kronos Quartet, Árcangel, Philippe Quesne, Locoplaya, among others. And this year, we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the first man on the moon.

This latest edition of Veranos de la Villa is backing great female voices in the international arena such as Katia Guerrero, Italian soprano Roberta Invernizz, singer-songwriter Joan Wasser and Kadhja Bonet from California.

Finally, cinema lovers are also in luck because on 1 August, the Jardín de las Vistillas will host a showing of Virgen de Agosto, the fifth feature-length film by Madrid-born director Jonas Trueba.

In Madrid’s central district you will be able to enjoy Kevin Johnson’s music in the courtyard of the Conde Duque cultural centre, dance to world music on Calle de Bailén or enjoy the avant-première of La Virgen de Agosto by Jonás Trueba in the Jardín de las Vistillas.
