Cortylandia 2016, an essential Christmas plan for children

Cortylandia, estrella de los planes con niños en Madrid en Navidad

Christmas is a magical time of year, especially for children. They count down the days on the calendar until that special morning when they wake up and find all the presents under the Christmas tree.

Coming to Madrid at Christmas is experiencing the joy of this time of year with your family, eating delicious traditional Christmas dishes, visiting street markets and enjoying the beautiful Christmas street lights. Also, an essential Christmas plan for the children is Cortylandia.

Those who visited Madrid as kids at Christmas will remember it, since it’s a “tradition” which has been ongoing for many decades. The El Corte Inglés department store installs a huge vertical stage on the façade of its store on Calle Preciados where friendly characters sing and dance to entertain the kids.

There is a different theme every year and this year’s theme is Coser y cantar (Sewing and singing – which is also a catchphrase that means “very easy”), which involves mice who sing Christmas songs in their sewing shop. Also, it’s a special edition since the department store is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

The show lasts for 15 minutes and it includes different songs and a short film on a giant screen, which is most enjoyable after the sun has set. However, this time brings out the biggest crowds, so we recommend that you get there early to get your spot.
