Don’t miss the ‘Young Frankenstein’ on your trip to Madrid
If you are coming to Madrid, you won’t want to miss the musical comedy The Young Frankestein which recently premièred at Teatro de la Luz Philips Gran Vía and will be showing until 5 May 2019. The performance is an adaptation of the famous film by New York director, actor, writer and producer Mel Brooks.
The LETSGO company based their version of this hilarious film produced by the Brooklyn filmmaker in 1974 on his screenplay, where he told the story of a brain surgeon named Frederick Frankenstein, the grandson of Victor Frankenstein, who inherited a castle in Transylvania where he found a manuscript explaining how to bring a dead body back to life.
A star cast in Madrid
Aided by his fiancée, Elizabeth, by Igor the hunchback and by his assistant, Inga, the main character decides to piece together his very own monster in a show that is a clear nod to Mary Shelley’s novel and features some of the most famous tunes from the soundtrack: Puttin’ On The Ritz, Transylvania Mania and He Vas My Boyfriend.
The cast includes Esteve Ferrer as artistic director, Víctor Ullate Roche as Doctor Frankenstein, Marta Ribera as Elizabeth, Cristina Llorente as Inga, Jordi Vidal as Igor, Teresa Vallicrosa as Frau Blücher, Pitu Manubens as Inspector Kemp and the Hermit, and Albert Gràcia playing the role of the Frankenstein monster.
