Matadero Madrid

We can now go to the Centro Internacional de Artes Vivas, in Matadero Madrid, to see Cecilio Castrillo’s first one-man exhibition. Beyoncé, Madonna and Marilyn Manson are only some of the artists who have worn Cecilio Castrillo’s designs, a man from Burgos who throughout his career has designed all sorts of masks, corsets and headdresses, among other items, always made of leather.
Who is Cecilio Castrillo
Trained in the Burgos Art School, after completing his education, Cecilio Castrillo decided to create his own studio, Leather Design. His first creations date back to 2005, and since then he has never ceased to amaze us with his unconventional collections inspired by punk, science-fiction and horror films. His first one-man exhibition is going to take place in Madrid, a chance for us to see with our own eyes these creations that have been exhibited in places such as the Brooklyn Museum.
In this Wearable Art exhibition, we will find items that have been worn by stars, but also some creations the artist from Burgos has designed specifically for this exhibition in Madrid. It will also contain designs that have been featured in some of the world’s most prestigious fashion magazines, such as Vogue Italia, Harper’s Bazaar or Schön Magazine. As well as on super-stars, Cecilio Castrillo’s work has appeared in the Paris National Opera, the Zurich Opera, the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards.
