Paseo del Arte

One of the main attractions in the city of Madrid is the so-called Art Triangle, whose ‘vertices’ are made up of the three most important and representative museums in the Spanish capital: El Prado, Reina Sofía and Thyssen-Bornemisza, three museums that will allow you to enjoy an enriching cultural experience. However, did you know that every Sunday they close off Paseo del Prado to vehicles and that you can walk freely in the middle of the street?

What does the Art Triangle have to offer?

The Art Triangle, also known as Golden Triangle, allows us to admire the works of the great Spanish artists. Find out everything you can discover at your own pace by moving around on foot, cycling or on a scooter.

El Prado

El Prado is one of the world’s most important pictorial museums, home to over 35,000 works from great Spanish artists such as Velázquez, and his masterpiece Las Meninas; El Greco, with his painting The Nobleman with his Hand on his Chest; and Goya, with The Third of May 1808. Furthermore, you can also find works by Italian painters such as Botticelli and Caravaggio and Flemish ones like Bosch and Rubens among others.

Reina Sofía

This museum dedicated to modern art exhibits over 16,000 works which encompass paintings, drawings and photographs. Some of the most prominent names you can find on its walls are Salvador Dalí, Joan Miró and, above all, Pablo Picasso. From the latter we can find his all-time masterpiece, Guernica, a must-see if you visit the museum.

Thyssen-Bornemisza

The artworks we can find here are a mixture of the previous two museums, thus allowing us to go on a journey through the history of art. The museum has a wide range of works which encompass different international artists, ranging from Van Gogh to Monet to Kandinsky.

Come and enjoy Madrid’s most cultural side

Surrounding the Art Triangle are many other places where you can enjoy art and culture. The Naval Museum, CaixaForum and the Lope de Vega House-Museum are other interesting places where you can indulge your cultural interest.

Madrid transports us to different times, styles and cultures. Come and enjoy these cultural treasures during a pleasant Sunday stroll!
