Jardín Botánico de Madrid

Spring begins today, on March 20th! This hugely important date for Madrid cannot go unnoticed. The season must receive the welcome it deserves. Floral aromas, colours and sunshine will herald its arrival.

It’s already spring in Madrid

Our city has countless plans in place to welcome in the new season, nonetheless, here are some suggestions.

  1. San Ildefonso Market

Make the most of the good weather: put on some sunglasses and a smart t-shirt and take a walk from our hotel to this traditional market where you can visit some of the most fashionable terraces in the capital. Give yourself a taste of spring with delicacies from its gastronomic offerings. Gourmets will also love the San Miguel Market, located next to the Plaza Mayor.

  1. A panoramic view

Get to know the city all over again by looking down on it from above. The observation deck of the Faro de Moncloa provides a wonderful view of the city. From 92 metres in the sky, you can see the Almudena Cathedral and the Palacio Real, as well as the splendid Parque del Oeste, which brims with greenery at this time of year. When you descend, you can visit the Rosaleda de Ramón Ortiz, which is located in the park and is home to more than 500 varieties of roses.

  1. Botanical Garden

More than 200 years old, Madrid’s Royal Botanical Garden is the closest thing to an open-air green museum. Full of beautiful corners; in spring it offers you the chance to enjoy a charming walk surrounded by flowers where you will learn a lot about the vegetable kingdom.

  1. The cable car

If you liked the view from the Faro Observation Deck, you’ll be even more delighted by this slow ascent that allows you to discover the city. The cars go up and down constantly, so you can ride them whenever you wish. Take your bike with you and take a walk around the Casa de Campo after flying from the heights over the western part of the city. Remember that Madrid is reborn today, and it is inviting you to join its new seasonal dynamic. Spring in Madrid awaits you!
