Biblioteca Nacional de España

You could say that there is only one thing larger than the cosmos and that would undoubtedly be the human curiosity to discover the unknown and learn about those things which are out of our reach. This curiosity is what allows our society to progress and you can now find its greatest secrets in Madrid.

An exhibition as immense as the universe

This fascinating exhibition shows us the universe and all the systems which have existed in it throughout history in order to understand it.

Here, you can find and experience first hand the Madrid Codices by Leonardo da Vinci, with whom we will get closer to the universe, nature and science like we had never imagined before, discovering all the importance it has in our culture and life.

You can discover the natural world through four fascinating sections:

Universe

It shows us items and texts which allow us to understand the cosmos, such as the Astronomical Tables made by order of King Alfonso X ‘The Wise’ and Ptolemy’s Almagest.

Earth

We will discover our planet’s geography with the Map by Juan de la Cosa, Ptolemy’s Geography (also known as Cosmographia) and the World Map of Etymologies written by Isidore of Seville.

Life: Flora and wildlife

It exhibits the most fascinating areas of nature’s flora and wildlife as well as a journey which shows the evolution of hominids and the Homo sapiens.

Science and technology

The exhibition’s icing on the cake: a tribute to female scientists and to modern and future technology.

You can enjoy this unforgettable exhibition until September 9, 2018 at the National Library in Madrid, located on Paseo de Recoletos, 20-22; Monday to Saturday from 10.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m. and from 10.00 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. on Sunday and public holidays. Free entrance.
