Ride the Christmas Bus in Madrid

By | 22 December, 2016 | 0 comments

Lights of thousands of different colours, tinsel and Christmas trees of all kinds are already decorating the streets of Madrid, a tradition on these dates to welcome the holidays.

Like every year, Naviluz, the Christmas Tourist Bus, is back on the streets, a service that the Madrid City Council provide especially so we can enjoy the street lights.

The start of this tourist route is at Plaza de Colón (in front of number 30 of Calle Serrano), and it works as the bus’ only start/finish stop.

The itinerary, which lasts for approximately 40-50 minutes, goes through the city centre and part of the Salamanca district: Puerta de Alcalá, Alcalá, Cibeles, Alcalá, Gran Vía, Callao, Jacometrezo, Santo Domingo, San Bernardo, Gran Vía, Alcalá, Cibeles, Alcalá, Puerta de Alcalá, Velázquez, José Ortega y Gasset, and once again Serrano as the end of the journey.

This way, those travelling on Naviluz can enjoy a panoramic tour from the privileged height of the bus and enjoy the attractive Christmas street lights, especially the new fir-tree designs put up in Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Alcalá, Calle Arenal, Calle del Carmen and Calle Preciados.

The service runs from December 1st until January 6th, daily from 6.00 p.m. to 10.20 p.m., except on December 24th and 31st and January 5th.

Ticket prices from previous years were 2 euros for adults and 1.50 euros for children and over 65s, with free entrance for children under the age of 7. Tickets can be bought on the EMT website.

Get on the Christmas bus and enjoy the city of Madrid immersed in the magic of this special time of year.
